It’s the last day of Blogtember! I would say it’s a bittersweet ending. I feel like participating in this lovely event has definitely helped me move my blog along and (hopefully) establish some good writing habits. So to finish up the month: Share a photo of something old. Maybe something that has personal history for you, that was passed down to you, and that has special meaning to you. Tell us about it and why it’s special.
This book has been in my family for many years. Somewhere back in the day someone gave it to a few times over great-grandmother of mine and it’s been passed down through the years. The book itself is a collection of poems about marriage, love, and the various virtues required by both. I love poetry, especially the kind written phonetically and full of metaphors. I’m happy to have this little book on my shelf, as beaten as it is (it has been around for 100+ years), if only for the poetry. However, I actually acquired it from my grandma a few years ago when I thought I had found my happily ever after. Even though I offered it back for another family member when things didn’t work out, grandma was persistent that I keep it, insisting that “perhaps it will keep you true to your heart.” It’s a really nice thought. At least, no matter what, it will always remind me of her (smile).
