Happy Giving Thanks

Today is one of my favorite holidays of the year – Thanksgiving (at least here in the U.S.). If it involved fireworks Thanksgiving would probably be my absolute favorite holiday (smile). When I was younger, it was just another holiday that involved shuttling around to all the grandparents and being subjected to countless football games. It was also the day standing in between me and decorating for Christmas – a terrible thing to a child! Needless to say, I had to grow into my appreciation (smile). Now, however, I can’t tell you how it saddens me that people can’t seem to wait a couple of extra weeks before opening the Christmas box. I love the Christmas season, but when it starts to take up 1/6th of the year the something special gets a bit lost…

I appreciate Thanksgiving as a day to be spent with family – the one you’re born into or the one you’ve chosen – and to simply be thankful for all of the good things that have happened the last year. I find that I really need that time of reflection as a sort of mental gearing-up for all of the holiday chaos. It keeps me at Scrooge level vs. full on Grinch (smile). This year is going to be a bit different due to unforeseen circumstances, but I’m okay with a quiet holiday. I’ll still talk to most of my family, and I’ll probably see quite a few friends – it’s pretty hard to complain when you know you’re loved!

So on this day I’m happy giving thanks for all of the amazing people and opportunities in my life, including you dear readers and this blog. This experience has brought so much into my life to be grateful for (smile). I hope you all have a peaceful and grateful day no matter where you’re reading this from!!

happy thanksgiving, fall leaves

  1. I really appreciate your sentiments, which are so beautifully expressed here. By the way, I ponder the irrelevant often. You see, I’m a lawyer. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for visiting my blog and hope you’ll stop by again soon. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you, I appreciate the kind words πŸ™‚ As a fellow lawyer (in training if no longer in practice), I can definitely sympathize with pondering the irrelevant rather frequently. As well as pulling together seemingly unrelated elements to make a convincing argument! A lot like this blog… πŸ™‚ I’m so glad you stopped by!!
